MƗẊɄFȦB – Guidelines – Focus Groups
This training resource provides a practical and structured guide to using focus groups as a qualitative research method within Citizen Science projects. Developed as part of the MIXUFAB project, the material is designed to support Citizen Scientists, facilitators, researchers, and community members in planning, conducting, and facilitating participatory focus groups. The resource clearly outlines each phase of the focus group process, including participant selection and recruitment, logistical planning, session structure, discussion management, and synthesis of outcomes. Particular emphasis is placed on facilitation skills, group dynamics, inclusion of diverse perspectives, and ethical considerations such as informed consent and the creation of a safe and respectful discussion environment. The resource is suitable for workshops, training sessions, and self-learning contexts, and aims to strengthen capacities for inclusive, community-led, and co-creative Citizen Science research practices.
