Other learning hubs

Citizen Science is an activity that works across research areas, cultures, and practices. There is so much to learn and there is so much to teach and share. Let's do it together!

Let's build a stronger landscape of knowledge exchange and a more collaborative infrastructure for capacity building.

This page is devoted to all the learning content that supports the courses in the ECS Academy. It is also the space where we showcase our commitment to support each other's work.

See below other learning hubs working together towards a coordinated landscape of capacity building in Europe and beyond.

European Competence Centre for Science Communication

The role of the European Competence Centre for Science Communication is to support daily practices of science communication, bringing together quality-curated resources, training, and networking to support both people and organisations to better reach a diversity of audiences. Furthermore, it actively promotes policies and fosters science communication developments, recognition, and professionalisation across the EU and beyond.

Science communication is essential for citizen science and in this learning platform you can deepen your knowledge with learning resources and training developed by experts in the field.

PATTERN

Here you can access a collection of educational materials summarising the joint efforts of the PATTERN Consortium to create an agile and efficient repository of Open RRI training and informative materials.

The inclusion of citizen science in research relies heavily on the understanding of RRI principles and on how to implement it.

EARMA Academy

The EARMA Academy is a dedicated learning hub designed to advance the professional development of the European research management and administration (RMA) community. It brings together a wide range of structured programmes, open-access resources, and networking opportunities under one umbrella.

A deeper understanding of how these function is crucial for those wanting to expand their knowledge on how to embed citizen science in research practices and institutions.

The EARMA Academy offers tailored certification levels to meet the specific needs of research management professionals.

MCAA Academy

The MCAA Academy is a professional development programme designed to support the career growth of MCAA members, with mentoring at its core. It offers a continuous and comprehensive learning experience, enabling mentors and mentees to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies most relevant to their career stage and aspirations.

As we work towards a future with greater civic participation in research and innovation, the resources available through the MCAA Academy complement those of the ECS Academy. Together, they provide tailored learning opportunities that explore the relationship between research and citizen science, while also offering broader content on research careers, professional development, and key research-related topics.

OpenPlato

The collaborative e-learning platform empowering Open Science education.

OpenPlato is part of the training hub with many self-paced courses. It covers many of the aspects of European Open Science such as data management, open access, and the European Open Science Cloud. The courses are managed by the OpenAIRE community. The collection includes 45 courses, which were created with the support of a range of European projects.

REINFORCING ORRI Platform

Training is essential to acquire the skills you need to implement ORRI projects. On the REINFORCING ORRI Platform, you can find training modules on general and specific topics related to Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI).

The platform supports organisations and territories in putting ORRI into practice by bringing together training, tools, resources, community spaces and practical pathways. It offers support for both newcomers and more experienced organisations seeking to strengthen openness and responsibility in research and innovation.
