What is next for the ECS network of Ambassadors?

The ECS project is coming to an end and it’s leaving a legacy of resources, infrastructure and networks. One of these is the network of 28 ambassadors from 28 different European countries. I joined the network as facilitator in 2025, when the network was already well established. This network surprised me, 28 different countries with completely different citizen science landscapes in one virtual room, meeting once a month and always happy and ready to collaborate, to share their stories, struggles, best practices and when necessary advice and help.
The network of ECS ambassadors proved that you don’t need to have a common background to find common ground. The citizen science landscape dramatically changed in some countries in the last 4 years since the beginning of the ECS project, and I can say with confidence that this group of people had a lot to do with this.
I am really happy to have been part of this network. I have met passionate people that have brought citizen science forward in their countries and with whom I would love to continue working in the future.
But what does the future hold for this network? Do not worry because the network will continue to thrive under the wing of the European Citizen Science Association, more details on this will follow, so stay tuned to hear more about it.
