Vielschichtige Perspektiven & Erfahrungen Neben Inputs zu zentralen Themen rund um partizipative Projektarbeit lebt der CAS von den vielschichtigen Perspektiven und Erfahrungen der Teilnehmenden. Diese kommen aus ganz unterschiedlichen Bereichen: zum Beispiel aus der Forschung, Museen, Bibliotheken, Archiven, NGOs, der Verwaltung oder dem Gesundheitsbereich. So vielfältig diese Zielgruppe auf den ersten Blick sein mag, sie eint das Interesse an der Umsetzung partizipativer Projekte, an gemeinsamer Wissensproduktion und dem Einbezug der Bevölkerung. Genau in dieser Kombination aus Unterschieden und Gemeinsamkeiten der CAS-Teilnehmenden sehen wir eine grosse Chance für das Von- und Miteinander-Lernen und für die Vernetzung mit Gleichgesinnten, die sich in ganz anderen institutionellen Umgebungen bewegen und zu den verschiedensten Themen arbeiten.

ECS project showcase: Sharing insights and facilitating dialogue in citizen science

Join the ECS project at the online event “ECS project showcase: Sharing insights and facilitating dialogue in citizen science” taking place on 27 February 2024, 12-13:30h CET. We will share the project’s insights on the topics of data practices in citizen science, impact evaluation, the ECS Academy (training and capacity building) and policy priorities of ECS in four input presentations. ​​​​'Introduction to Citizen Artist™ and Art-Based Research Methods'

In this online hybrid and experiential course, you will be introduced to Art-Based Perceptual Ecology (ABPE) research methodologies, non-conventional field-based research methods grounded in multimodal knowledge systems, sensory-based learning and framed within ecological and biological principles. The ABPE methods and tools have application to studying changes in ecological systems and addressing critical environmental issues such as biodiversity decline, habitat loss and effects from climate change. Contrary to our name, there is no need for an art background or art experience to take the course.

Constatant qu’il ne suffit pas toujours de se réunir et d’avoir envie de travailler ensemble pour que cela fonctionne et ne reproduise pas les hiérarchies entre types de savoirs, le dispositif tiers-veilleur apparait progressivement comme une forme d’accompagnement méthodologique qui tend à s’institutionaliser. Pourquoi ce tiers ? Comment existe-il aujourd’hui ? Evenement ouvert aux étudiant.e.s, doctorant.e.s, enseignant.e.s-chercheur.e.s, personnels d'accompagnement de la recherche, et toute personne curieuse de la fabrique des recherches participatives. The VERA platform serves as a “collaboratory” where participatory research/citizen science projects can be realized and new collaborations can be established. Through its profiling and matchmaking tool, its project management features and its funding database, VERA helps projects get started, stay organized, and find the necessary funding. At this webinar, participants will get guidance on how to use VERA platform. The COESO project is a 3-year project funded until Dec 2023 by the European Commission's Science with and for Society grant and supported by the OPERAS research infrastructure.

YouCount: Save the dates for Final Conference 4-5 December 2023

Youth Citizen Social Science contributing to social inclusion How can we shape an inclusive society for young people at risk of exclusion in Europe? What role can Citizen Science play in this endeavour? The Horizon 2020 research and innovation project YouCount explored these questions through co-creative research with youth and local stakeholders in nine countries across ten cases. After two years of hands-on Youth Citizen Social Science work, YouCount will share experiences and look ahead to discuss findings and potential impacts on EU policies and beyond. Program: The first day includes a seminar focusing on hands-on Youth Citizen Social Science and a welcome reception. The final conference takes place on the second day where we will discuss implications of key findings with stakeholders and policymakers. On both days, the voices of our young co-researchers will be amplified during presentations, interactive sessions, round table discussions and an exhibition. Citizen Science for Health conference 2023

Τhe first global Citizen Science for Health conference will take place on Sunday 29 October – Wednesday 1 November 2023 at DesignLab, University of Twente, the Netherlands. The conference will be organized in close cooperation with University of Twente's TechMed Centre, as part of the MedTech Twente Week 2023. The event is initiated by the Working group Citizen Science for Health of the European Citizen Science Association ECSA. The conference takes place over four days and the scope aims to mark the start of a more concerted approach towards the development of Citizen Science in the domain of Health. The conference aims to touch both minds and hearts, and to inspire collaborations beyond paradigms. Therefore, a format is chosen that goes beyond a more traditional conference set-up. Besides scientific symposia, the conference will include a diversity of interactive formats such as: dialogues, round tables, co-creation sessions, networking, poster sessions, field visits, walking meetings and art. The conference is open to a broad global public (including academics, students, policy makers, citizens, societal organizations and companies), but also to a local audience interested in Citizen Science for Health.

Connect. Collaborate. Create. Bridging communities to foster participatory research and citizen science

An interactive conference hosted by Horizon 2020 projects COESO and ProEthics to bridge key European communities to: 1) activate participatory research and citizen science involving the social sciences and humanities, and 2) foster ethical participatory approaches to research funding. All citizen science practitioners or supporters are welcome! SSH researchers, civil society professionals & organizations, librarians, science shop coordinators, research funding organizations, policy makers, and more are encouraged to actively participate. Please submit your contribution ideas by August 29th! Registration is open now through September.

Citizen science and co-design tools for cities

As part of the 2023 European Week of Regions and Cities, SOCIO-BEE will be participating in the participatory/political lab, ‘Citizen science and co-design tools for cities’, on Tuesday, 10 October 2023 at 9:30 CET in Brussels. SOCIO-BEE and nine other EU-funded projects will present the tools and resources they have developed to help communities make their cities more sustainable.
