Jährlich findet das Forum Citizen Science Deutschland statt und bietet der Citizen-Science-Community eine Plattform für Diskussion, Erfahrungsaustausch und Vernetzung. Das ist die Fachkonferenz mit Workshops, Diskussionen und Projektvorstellungen. Die Community ist im Rahmen des Call for Proposals eingeladen, das Programm sowie den Markt der Möglichkeiten aktiv mitzugestalten. Die Veranstaltung organisieren wir gemeinsam mit lokalen Partner*innen. Das Forum Citizen Science 2022 ist eine gemeinsame Veranstaltung von Wissenschaft im Dialog, dem Museum für Naturkunde Berlin in Kooperation mit der Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg. Das Forum Citizen Science 2022 steht unter dem Motto: "Global - Regional - Lokal: mit Bürgerwissenschaften für die UN-Nachhaltigkeitsziele". Im Mittelpunkt stehen dabei die 17 Ziele für nachhaltige Entwicklung (Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs), die getreu dem Versprechen "Niemand soll zurückgelassen werden." von allen UN-Mitgliedsstaaten entwickelt wurden und gemeinsam von 2016 bis 2030 verwirklicht werden sollen: Wie können wir als Gesellschaft diese Ziele mit Hilfe von Citizen-Science-Projekten stärken? Welche Beiträge leistet Citizen Science bisher bei der Gestaltung und Verwirklichung der UN-Nachhaltigkeitsziele? Den Antworten auf diese Fragen wollen wir uns auf dem Forum Citizen Science 2022 an der Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg nähern. Engaging Citizen Science Conference 2022
The Engaging Citizen Science Conference will take place at Aarhus University, Denmark, April 25-26, 2022 and will promote knowledge sharing among the citizen science community. The aim of the conference is to engage citizen science researchers, practitioners, and citizens in sharing research, ideas, and innovations in order to make the field thrive and expand. The conference will be interdisciplinary in scope, inviting workshops, dialogue roundtables, posters, and demos from all main areas of research (natural and technical sciences, life and health sciences, and social sciences and humanities). The main conference language will be English, meaning that keynotes and main track sessions will be in English. Language of individual workshop sessions, dialogue roundtables, posters and demos are at the discretion of the session/roundtable/poster/demo organizer(s) and must be either Danish or English.

What is Planetary Health? And why we need diverse Citizen Science perspectives and stakeholders to support it? This webinar will introduce the holistic concept of Planetary Health. We aim to show that it will take diverse synergies and collaboration with the entire Citizen Science community with many scientific disciplines to implement the best of all possible futures on our human-inhabited planet. Stories about Women in Citizen Science
ECSA is celebrating the 2022 International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This is promoted every year by UNESCO. Together with the ECSA Storytelling and Other Arts Working Group, we will share stories from many people (from all genders) from our community, who are particularly engaged in this field. One day a year is not enough to achieve equal opportunities for all, however even these symbolic moments are inspiring and need our strong support. The future of citizen science: sharing experiences from the European community
The future of citizen science: sharing experiences from the European community is a gathering of the global citizen science community. It is aimed at sharing experiences and stimulating debates about the role citizen science can play in supporting a sustainable, just and green Europe. Over two days you will hear from a great variety of speakers, be able to share your ideas and meet like-minded individuals. Here are some of the highlights you can look forward to: hear from over twenty different speakers from across Europe, take part in the satellite high-level policy event, take part in discussions during a variety of interactive sessions, check out the booth area for some inspiring citizen science projects and enjoy the networking moments, culinary experiences and social rooms. This online conference is jointly organised by the ACTION and the EU-Citizen.Science projects and proudly supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme. The event will take place online from 11:00 to 16:30 CET on 24 November and from 10:00 to 13:00 CET on 25 November.
YouCount webinar: Transformative & Innovative Impact
Young people in Europe are facing many challenges with regard to social inclusion (e.g. social participation, employment, social belonging). There is a pressing need to develop more knowledge and innovation to create more inclusive and youth-friendly societies. One way to contribute to this is through Citizen Social Science with young people - Youth Citizen Social Science (Y-CSS). The YouCount project has organised a series of three webinars to discuss central questions of Y-CSS and to create a network of interested people. The third and last webinar "Transformative & Innovative Impact" will take place on the 4th of November. These webinars are for practitioners of Citizen Science, Community-based Research and youth engagement, but people without prior experience are also very welcome. These are exciting conversations, and YouCount is working hard to make them happen in inclusive and equitable ways.
2021 Inclusive SciComm Symposium
Inclusive SciComm comprises varied perspectives, including community engagement, informal science learning, arts, community organizing, journalism, community-based participatory research, inclusive pedagogy, service learning, library science, and many others. The purpose of the Inclusive SciComm Symposium is to build a community that actively challenges the dominant, frequently marginalizing norms of STEMM and deficit-oriented approaches to communication culture, and promotes science communication that values individual and group assets. Through these transformations, the Inclusive SciComm community will reimagine and change how science is conducted and discussed.
Ciencia ciudadana en apoyo a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS)
[ES] El próximo 30 de septiembre, el grupo OSDG (formado por la consultora lituana PPMI, el grupo SDG AI Lab del Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (UNDP) y una creciente comunidad de investigadores) junto con el Instituto INAECU (UAM-UC3M) organizará la Jornada ‘Ciencia ciudadana en apoyo a los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS)‘ que se realizará de forma virtual. La jornada se articulará en tres partes. En primer lugar, una mesa introductoria que reunirá a expertos internacionales relacionados con ciencia abierta y los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible. En una segunda parte, un workshop práctico dónde se presentará el proyecto OSDG Community Platform, un proyecto de ciencia ciudadana que pretende analizar como la ciencia, la tecnología y la innovación pueden contribuir a los ODS, mediante la participación de múltiples actores. (reflexión en pequeños grupos). 18:15-18.30 | Observaciones finales y cierre [EN] On September 30, the OSDG group (formed by PPMI, the SDG AI Lab group of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and a growing community of researchers) together with the INAECU Institute (UAM-UC3M ) will organize the Conference 'Citizen Science in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)' to be held virtually. The day will be divided into three parts. First, an introductory table that will bring together international experts related to open science and the sustainable development goals. In the second part, we will present the OSDG Community Platform projec , a citizen science project that aims to analyze how science, technology and innovation can contribute to the SDGs through participation of multiple actors. Finally, we will hold a brief participatory activity on the approaches and the main dilemmas / challenges to achieve the goals established in the 2030 Agenda. The event is free of charge, join us!

Join Michael Sarill of Project Noah for a virtual program about the popular online global community of nature enthusiasts and its collaboration with National Moth Week. Michael will lead aspiring citizen scientists through Project Noah’s Moths of the World mission, which provides a platform for uploading and publishing photos, creating a personal nature journal and learning about the natural world on projectnoah.org and its social media platforms. This virtual event is free and open to the public. It will be presented via Zoom.
Learning Data Naturally SLA (Special Libraries Association) 2021
Public participation in scientific research through citizen science is gaining popularity across the world. Through data collection, citizen scientists contribute to the creation of open and research-grade data and build data literacy skills. Academic librarians are often uniquely positioned to promote citizen science projects both in the classroom and among community advocates, connecting researchers with life-long learners for the benefit of open science. During the on-demand session and throughout the conference, participants and attendees will ‘naturally’ engage with the process of science and learn data literacy skills such as data collection and sharing, by contributing to this dataset. Participants in the session will also be encouraged to pose questions, analyze data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings by exploring the data collected by conference attendees from around the world.
