OneAquaHealth project
OneAquaHealth is a European research and innovation project that strengthens the connection between urban freshwater ecosystem health and human wellbeing. It develops new ways to monitor streams, rivers, and ponds in cities by combining biodiversity indicators, environmental data, digital tools, and AI‑supported early‑warning systems. The project brings together scientists, municipalities, technology experts, and citizens to better understand how changes in water quality, species diversity, and environmental stressors affect both nature and people. Through its digital platform, mobile citizen‑science app, and innovative assessment methods, OneAquaHealth helps cities detect risks earlier, make evidence‑based decisions, and engage communities in protecting their local waters. Ultimately, the project aims to create healthier, more resilient urban environments where ecosystems and human communities can thrive together.
