ASNU APS - Associazione Scienze Naturali Unite
ASNU APS (Associazione Scienze Naturali Unite) is a non-profit association of natural scientists based in Naples, Southern Italy (EU PIC 890920460). Born as a student group in 2015 and formally established in 2020, it combines field ecology, citizen science and non-formal education to engage young people and local communities in nature protection.
Citizen science and monitoring: volunteer biodiversity datasets on iNaturalist, field guides, GPS trails and videos for 12 urban green and protected areas around Naples (ESC Solidarity Projects SCINN, NTERR, SAJE); citizen science on invasive alien plants with the University of Naples Federico II (Le Invasioni Botaniche, since 2020); Caretta caretta nest monitoring on the Campania coast with 120+ volunteers (LIFE Turtlenest, 2023-2024); participation in the ISPRA national wolf monitoring; amphibian and reptile monitoring at the Soglitelle wetland with IGF; survey of river barriers in the Sannio area with WWF Sannio (Open Rivers Programme).
Education and engagement: outdoor science and citizen science events in schools (Urbio Ecos, NextGenerationEU / National Biodiversity Future Center; FOSTEM, 13 schools); game-based and LARP methods for environmental learning (Erasmus+ projects CARE, GENIE, ALADDIN).
We are open to cooperation with research institutions and citizen science initiatives across Europe, as a partner for participatory monitoring, field data collection and community engagement in Southern Italy.
