CitSciSort
from 28/04/2026 until 28/04/2030
CitSci Sort is a collaborative platform for classifying abstracts of scientific articles on citizen science. Developed by the Ibercivis Foundation as part of the Horizon Europe RIECS Concept project, it enables anyone to help build the first systematically categorised corpus of scientific literature on citizen science on a global scale.
Aim
To construct a structured overview of how citizen science is studied, practised and theorised worldwide, identifying types of research, methods employed, and the technological platforms and infrastructure used.
How to participate
Sign up at https://citscisort.ibercivis.es/. Once logged in, the platform will display summaries of scientific articles one by one. For each one, follow the guided three-step classification process:
- determine whether the article uses citizen science as a method or studies it as a subject,
- identify which aspects it analyses,
- indicate whether it mentions specific platforms or technologies.
No prior experience in research or citizen science is required.
Needed equipment
A computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection and a web browser. No installation or additional software is required.
