Let’s Form Marine Shelters (FOMSHE)

Completed

FOMSHE combined seahorse conservation with vocational training in welding and design. Students and teachers learned about seahorse ecology, designed biodegradable shelters with computer software, built the winning structure in the school workshop, produced multilingual educational guides and videos, and pursued authorisation for habitat recovery deployment.

Aim

The project aimed to raise awareness of seahorse conservation while linking marine biodiversity with practical vocational skills. It sought to show students that technical education, design and welding can contribute directly to habitat restoration and ocean protection. A further aim was to create materials and guidance that could help other schools develop Blue School projects and marine-shelter initiatives.
