We Are Water: Taking care of waters we take care of ourselves (WAW)

Completed

WAW encouraged pupils to care for water by investigating quality, contaminants and the effects of human activity on freshwater and oceans. Students researched nitrate pollution, carried out laboratory work on aquatic ecosystems, visited beaches, the Ter River and expert centres, and shared results through performances, a Blue Carnival, a board game, website and digital magazine.

Aim

The project aimed to deepen pupils’ understanding of how water quality affects living beings and why local action matters for rivers and seas. It sought to use the scientific method to investigate eutrophication, pollution and ecosystem health, while linking science with artistic and community communication. A further aim was to embed water literacy across the curriculum and strengthen international collaboration through eTwinning.
