reBLUE: circular economy and plastic waste reduction
The reBLUE project promoted ocean literacy by integrating environmental education into the curriculum, focusing on reducing coastal plastic waste through a circular economy approach. After brainstorming ideas for community impact, students created wooden boxes placed on beaches to encourage tourists to reuse beach toys, which led to the "BORROW- PLAY-RETURN" system.
Aim
To reduce coastal plastic waste through a circular economy approach and strengthen ocean literacy in the school and community. The work linked classroom learning with practical environmental action and helped students communicate the value of protecting their local aquatic environment.
