(Re)generating a water pond for understanding freshwater ecosystems through school
The project achieved highly positive results by involving specialists in environmental education to support teachers from all primary cycles in developing workshops focused on pond design. Students observed and accompanied the transformation of a school pond into a naturalised aquatic system throughout the seasons, influenced by the surrounding forest.
Aim
To increase knowledge of continental aquatic ecosystems and biodiversity through a living school pond. The work linked classroom learning with practical environmental action and helped students communicate the value of protecting their local aquatic environment.
