The deceptive face of plastic
During the implementation of "The Deceptive Face of Plastic," students from Prienai "Žiburys" Gymnasium conducted micro- and macro-plastic pollution studies in the Nemunas River, other local rivers in Prienai town, the Baltic Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. They assessed various water quality indicators and visited the Lithuanian Energy Institute and the Centre for Physical and Technological Sciences.
Aim
To deepen student understanding of plastic pollution, research methods and the effects of microplastics on ecosystems and health. The project contributed to strengthening students’ environmental competencies, encouraged interest in science, and fostered a sense of responsibility and citizenship.
