Wetland Guardians and Protectors (WGP)
The programme highlighted the invaluable role of freshwater for life and biodiversity. Students learnt that many wetlands, such as Lake Kotychi near the school, are protected by the Ramsar Convention. Identifiable outputs also comprised digital presentations and videos regarding the flora and fauna of Lake Kotychi, a collaboratively developed observation notebook for in-depth lake study, and a recording leaflet for biodiversity.
Aim
To deepen pupils’ understanding of freshwater biodiversity and the importance of wetland protection. The work linked classroom learning with practical environmental action and helped students communicate the value of protecting their local aquatic environment.
