Guardians of the Aegean: Empowering Students to Protect Marine Ecosystems
The "Guardians of the Aegean" project engaged students from the Junior High School of Myrina and the 1st High School of Chios in marine protection through citizen science and environmental education. Over twelve months, forty students directly participated in seawater quality monitoring, biodiversity documentation, and awareness campaigns. A further 980 students were reached through seminars and school activities.
Aim
To strengthen students' water and ocean literacy through practical activities addressing marine ecosystems, biodiversity, seawater quality, microplastics, awareness campaigns, while promoting environmental responsibility, scientific understanding and community engagement.
