Water Awareness Through Education and Research: Working to Improve Student Engagement (WATERWISE)

The WATERWISE project successfully empowered students to become informed advocates for freshwater health by actively engaging them in hands-on research on microplastic pollution in Latvian lakes. Through the production of an educational film, students deepened their understanding of local freshwater ecosystems and effectively raised awareness among their peers about the impacts of pollution and the importance of sustainable practices.

Aim

To strengthen students' water and ocean literacy through practical activities addressing freshwater ecosystems, microplastics, lake monitoring, educational film, sustainability education, while promoting environmental responsibility, scientific understanding and community engagement.
