Hafið Okkar - Blue Bolungarvík (HOBB)
Hafið Okkar - Blue Bolungarvík connected students in a small Icelandic community with ocean literacy and citizen science. The project focused on monitoring invasive rock crabs in local waters. Students collected field data, reported findings to the National Marine Research Institute and communicated learning through public art and science communication.
Aim
To inspire rural students to become ocean citizens by investigating local marine biodiversity, understanding invasive species and sharing scientific findings with their community and national researchers.
