Nutrient load, Environmental pressures and Molecular biology experiments to enhance the Understanding of freshwater ecosystems (NEMU)

Completed

NEMU improved understanding of freshwater ecosystems by combining chemical analysis, biotic index calculations and molecular biology. Students sampled a pond, identified macroinvertebrates, studied turbidity and environmental pressure, introduced measures to support duck mussels and used DNA techniques to explore trophic relationships.

Aim

To deepen student understanding of freshwater ecosystem dynamics by linking nutrient load, biodiversity, environmental pressure and molecular evidence in a practical research project.
