The Guardians of the Streams
The Guardians of the Streams engaged children in seasonal fieldwork exploring local freshwater ecosystems in Belgium. Participants measured temperature, turbidity, pH and nitrates, observed biodiversity, identified signs of pollution, collected and sorted litter, and combined experiential learning with basic scientific practice to build long-term water literacy.
Aim
To strengthen children’s water literacy, critical thinking and responsibility for local ecosystems through repeated place-based freshwater investigations and action.
