This deliverable outlines the process of developing and editing a special collection on citizen science (CS) in policy and decision-making for Citizen Science: Theory and Practice (CSTP), a leading open-access journal in the field. The collection brings together 17 manuscripts covering a diverse range of topics, including youth engagement in local-level citizen science, public health, disaster risk management and biodiversity conservation.
The deliverable also briefly describes the fifth high-level policy event of the ECS project, a panel session organised in close connection with the special collection. At the time of submission, the manuscripts were undergoing editorial assessment and peer review in accordance with the journal’s standard procedures. The collection is expected to be published in winter/spring 2026/2027, subject to the completion of the review and production process.
