Oder bringst Du schon einiges an Erfahrung mit in partizipativen Projekten und möchtest über Deinen Tellerrand schauen? Dann bist Du hier richtig - egal ob ganz am Anfang einer vagen Idee oder schon mittendrin. Denn: Gemeinsam wissen wir mehr. Vielschichtige Perspektiven & Erfahrungen Neben Inputs zu zentralen Themen rund um partizipative Projektarbeit lebt der CAS von den vielschichtigen Perspektiven und Erfahrungen der Teilnehmenden. Diese kommen aus ganz unterschiedlichen Bereichen: zum Beispiel aus der Forschung, Museen, Bibliotheken, Archiven, NGOs, der Verwaltung oder dem Gesundheitsbereich. So vielfältig diese Zielgruppe auf den ersten Blick sein mag, sie eint das Interesse an der Umsetzung partizipativer Projekte, an gemeinsamer Wissensproduktion und dem Einbezug der Bevölkerung. Genau in dieser Kombination aus Unterschieden und Gemeinsamkeiten der CAS-Teilnehmenden sehen wir eine grosse Chance für das Von- und Miteinander-Lernen und für die Vernetzung mit Gleichgesinnten, die sich in ganz anderen institutionellen Umgebungen bewegen und zu den verschiedensten Themen arbeiten.

ESCAPE 1st Citizen Science Workshop

The First ESCAPE Citizen Science Workshop will feature showcases of successful citizen science projects in several research fields covered by the ESCAPE Science Partners. There will also be a series of hands-on tutorials in which you will learn how to build your own citizen science project, implement advanced statistical aggregation methods and integrate machine learning.

Workshop series: Common challenges in citizen science

Scivil and Stickydot are organising a series of four thematic workshops on common challenges in citizen science. These workshops are aimed at people who are involved or interested in coordinating, organising or supporting citizen science initiatives. Experience with citizen science is welcome, but not required, just your willingness to ask, share and discuss about the topic! Each workshop will kick off with a short inspirational testimonial by a citizen science practitioner, followed by breakout and plenary sessions where you will be discussing and exchanging questions, experiences and challenges with the other participants. The first one of these workshops will take place on the 30th of November; the second one on the 7th of December; the third one on the 14th of December; and the last one on the 21st of December. You can sign up for just one workshop, all four, or anything in between.

The future of citizen science: sharing experiences from the European community

The future of citizen science: sharing experiences from the European community is a gathering of the global citizen science community. It is aimed at sharing experiences and stimulating debates about the role citizen science can play in supporting a sustainable, just and green Europe. Over two days you will hear from a great variety of speakers, be able to share your ideas and meet like-minded individuals. Here are some of the highlights you can look forward to: hear from over twenty different speakers from across Europe, take part in the satellite high-level policy event, take part in discussions during a variety of interactive sessions, check out the booth area for some inspiring citizen science projects and enjoy the networking moments, culinary experiences and social rooms. This online conference is jointly organised by the ACTION and the EU-Citizen.Science projects and proudly supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme. The event will take place online from 11:00 to 16:30 CET on 24 November and from 10:00 to 13:00 CET on 25 November.

Citizen Science: Two Institutional Viewpoints from the UK and Denmark

In this webinar, LIBER’s Citizen Science Working Group will focus on the role of Citizen Science in research universities and libraries by exploring two case studies: the UCL office for Open Science and Scholarship, and Citizen Science Knowledge Center at the University of Southern Denmark. After this webinar you will be able to: • Achieve a greater understanding of the role of Citizen Science in research-led universities; • Be able to identify practical ways to implement Citizen Science to include citizens as partners in research; • Know where to find the resources and skills needed to deliver Citizen Science practice. Who should attend? Anyone interested in learning about how to bring Citizen Science to a university/research library environment.

Con grande piacere comunichiamo che l’11-12 novembre 2021 presso il Museo di Storia Naturale della Maremma (Grosseto) si terrà un incontro Nazionale di Citizen Science organizzato in collaborazione con EU-Citizen.Science e Action. Sarà l'occasione per aggiornare la comunità italiana di CS sulle principali novità dei progetti italiani e internazionali. Gli interventi per la presentazione dei progetti saranno strutturati come "speed-talk" di pochi minuti, oltre alle domande. Verrà fatto circolare più avanti un template per le presentazioni. Stiamo lavorando per organizzare l'evento in presenza, nel rispetto della vigente normativa anti-Covid. L'incontro sarà in ogni caso fruibile anche in streaming sulla pagina Fb di CSI e sul sito del museo. Tuttavia vi invitiamo, se possibile, a intervenire di persona (soprattutto se avete un progetto da illustrare). YouCount webinar: Transformative & Innovative Impact

Young people in Europe are facing many challenges with regard to social inclusion (e.g. social participation, employment, social belonging). There is a pressing need to develop more knowledge and innovation to create more inclusive and youth-friendly societies. One way to contribute to this is through Citizen Social Science with young people - Youth Citizen Social Science (Y-CSS). The YouCount project has organised a series of three webinars to discuss central questions of Y-CSS and to create a network of interested people. The third and last webinar "Transformative & Innovative Impact" will take place on the 4th of November. These webinars are for practitioners of Citizen Science, Community-based Research and youth engagement, but people without prior experience are also very welcome. These are exciting conversations, and YouCount is working hard to make them happen in inclusive and equitable ways.

CitSciOz21 Virtual Conference

“CitSciOz21: Celebrate, Communicate, Co-create” is an online virtual conference organised by the Australian Citizen Science Association that will take place 27 – 29 October 2021. Centered around the themes of Celebrate, Communicate, and Co-Create, this virtual experience will invite participants to explore, investigate and showcase successful citizen science projects from Australia and the rest of the world. Moreover, different citizen science communication techniques for maximum impact will be showcased. The virtual conference will ensure a highly interactive and engaging event, with the capacity to network with your fellow attendees, speakers, and sponsors as well as providing you with the learning outcomes and benefits you would come to expect from an in-person event.

What’s new in citizen science training: from open science to public engagement

EU-Citizen.Science contains a wide array of free, self-directed training modules on citizen science on its Moodle page. The themes of the training modules range from introduction to citizen science over research design and methods, engagement and impact to communication and regulations and ethics. At this event, we will showcase three of these training modules and offer the opportunity to meet the trainers who developed them. We will launch the final version of the EU-Citizen.Science platform and show its new features. Finally, the winners of the #MonthOfTheProjects campaign will be presented.

Experts will present the D-NOSES scientific & innovative methodology to tackle odour pollution through citizen science as well as the pilot results. Additional aspects such as energizer, data validation and inclusiveness are addressed, besides an evaluation of the work done.

The D-NOSES project at a glance

This is the first webinar of the D-NOSES Conference on Odour Management and Citizen Science. After honourable opening remarks by EC representatives, the D-NOSES project will be introduced as an innovative methodology to tackle odour pollution through citizen science. The need of a multi-level governance model and a multi-level engagement model will be discussed, as well as the D-NOSES engagement model and project tools. Further, 10 citizen science interventions at local level to monitor and improve odour issues will be presented. Finally, the D-NOSES Exploitation and Sustainability Plan will be described.

Citizen Science for the Oceans: From observation to information - towards digital twins of the ocean

In this webinar you will learn about citizen science activities related to the oceans. We will use the case of jelly fish as an example, start with the observations done by citizens using mobile apps. Then you learn how the data can be integrated in systems, including the use of standards making the data, in this case biological data, interoperable. You will also learn how to approach making the apps themselves. As NextGEOSS already has citizen science data catalogued on the data hub, you will now learn how we will expand this with the help from among others Earthwatch through their contribution to the ILIAD project. This webinar aims to reach Earth observation professionals and students, Citizen science public and private organisations, App makers, ocean advocates, marine environmentalist, oceanographers, ecologists.
