VanHarte

Active

from 01/06/2026 until 29/09/2028

With VanHarte, citizens work together to detect cardiovascular diseases early. By engaging volunteers as health testers, we give more people the opportunity to understand their risk of heart and vascular diseases.

Volunteers are trained to perform basic health checks using a simple app and easy-to-use equipment. They measure health markers such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and BMI. Results are recorded instantly and shared with participants, who can discuss them with a healthcare professional if needed.

Screenings take place in accessible locations such as community centers, pharmacies, and public events, making preventive care more inclusive and reachable. At the same time, the collected data and volunteer experiences contribute to scientific research on the feasibility and reliability of this approach.

Preventing cardiovascular disease? It's something we do together.

Aim

The goal of VanHarte is to enable early detection of cardiovascular risks by making preventive screening more accessible. We develop and evaluate an approach in which trained volunteers perform simple health checks supported by a digital app. This allows us to reach more people, reduce barriers to care, and detect risk factors earlier. At the same time, we study the feasibility and reliability of this model, and explore how citizens can be sustainably involved in preventive healthcare.
